That’s why you can get your information’s from wherever you want (the newspaper, the television, the radio or even the internet). But what news can do generally? And why is it so popular for us to be informed?

In listening paragraph I list my ideas in logical order. First I want to start with the democracy (politics). I am convinced that there would be many problems if the democracy and the politics wouldn’t get criticised in the media. Because of the television for example, hardly any powerful politician is able to make something wrong without causing a stir. I am unsure how these guys would abuse their authority if they wouldn’t be watched by the media… To give another example I will take a firm stand to the free election. Moreover it is very important to know enough information about the party you will vote. In the media we usually hear not only the good aspects of them and that’s also very important, because they are our future!

Second there is the social aspect why we should be informed. You should be able to communicate and discuss about controversial issues with friends, your partner or even strangers. It is always good having a theme about you can talk which is not the job. People who are “up to date” get mostly categorised as well educated and this is a nice side action isn’t it?

Finally I want to tell about why it is good for ourselves to be informed.
News can influence us. This is due to our own experiences and our attitude we had before we were reading an article for example. It’s also the guilt of the reporter who is able to influence the reader. Maybe he conceals the reader from something or gave a false colour? On the one side there is this bad aspect, but on the other side it’s necessary for educating ourselves, to build our own opinion or to find new aspects or new arguments.

To sum up, I want to say that I personally would never forbear from reading the newspaper, or staying informed with television. Because I want to be informed about all the good and bad things happens on our world. Only if people are informed they could have profound and actual discusses or get new aspects which could change the mind they had before. The most important reason we should be informed about our world is that we are only able to change something, if we know about a problem or dubious activities of some politicians…

442 words

Graph "Smokers"

It’s quite shocking to note that there is a more negative result I ever thought. 17 of 100 respondents fewer than 16 years are smokers! A high number if you know that smoking is only allowed with 16 years (in some countries even with 18 or 21). You can also see: The number of smoker is getting higher and higher the older the respondents get. This bar chart shows us that the most smokers are between 18 and 20 years old. If you look at this it’s conspicuous that the number of smokers is getting lower by the 21 or older people. All in all the result of this poll is quite simply shocking.

boyz 'n the hood

BOYS IN THE HOOD

Group 1: What kind of lessonds does Furious Styles teach his sin Tre.
Do they guarantee a better life?

-> Show respect (3 rules)
1.) For hundreds of years, beauty was very important for the human being- especially for women. In this text I will show you my attitudes and the advantages and disadvantages of this hard contested “Struggle for Beauty”.

To start with, I want to tell you some good aspects for striving for perfection. There is this nice feeling of happiness if you are able to see your perfect image in the mirror after put your face on for example. Therefore I would say that it is the success, which makes us happy. It involves self confidence and the feeling of being accepted. But we have to ask ourselves if it is really right to distinguish the well- dressed people from the others who are not able to buy expensive designer clothes. There are also ugly people wearing expensive clothes, whereas there are also beauties of natures, which are not wearing Ed Hardy. So are they not called beautiful now, because they didn’t buy the latest fad of New York?! The same with the surgery’s. There are two different types of surgeries. Plastic surgery, which is only for those that their body conforms to the current ideal of beauty, or the restorative surgery for people with burnt skin for example. On the one hand a woman with breasts Cup C is not getting discriminated usually. An accident victim on the other hand, is ogled by everyone. Such people could be helped with a surgery, because it will help them physically.

There are also some important disadvantages to this struggle. Think at the scars from botched plastic surgeries, or other body distortions. From this follows, that those victims are getting more psychological problems, than they had before.
It is obvious, that there are also negative aspects about the world, where everything can be modified for the sake of perfection. At this point, I will take the example with perfect looking cover girls on the magazines. They became idols for most of us. So we start with unhealthy diets and never get happy, because we are not getting as thin as those anorexic models. I strongly believe that we forgot that having a charismatic personality and a healthy dose of self – esteem is also a part of beauty!

To sum up, I would say that each is a mixed bag of positive and negative aspects. But all in all we should decide what is good for us and what only makes us only sick. Trends are changing-> our personality and friendships stay.

Beauty

<meta equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; It was really conspicuous, how many household articles were shown there and there always were women only, presenting these products. In my opinion, you should not forget the fact, that all has been changing, hasn’t it? Above all the typical roles of men and women have changed. Today also the woman is earning money and the man is looking after the kids. I dare to say, that housemen could be as good as women, but their self confidence is not getting higher, if they have to see this perfect women in the advertising every day. He maybe feels unaccepted, because according to the television, only women are the experts in the household.

In the end I can say, that I am very glad about the changing from past to now. I am also sure, that it would be better to support house men, instead discriminate women and try to bring them back to their old roles!

Fatihfully yours
Sarah K.

City vs. Country

City vs. Country

These two ways of life have a lot of differences, such as work, the environment and the entertainment. Let me discuss the facts about these lifestyles below.

A good aspect for living in the city is for example, that there are better services like hospitals and school. Wherever you go there is a great choice of stores and supermarkets.
Another positive point is that everything is directly accessible because of the good traffic transport. Also very important are the great discos, bars and concerts thereto spend the nights there. On the one hand you never have to be bored, but on the other hand it’s a fact, that the people living in a city, are even more stressed than the ones who are living on the countryside. The stress could start early in the morning, when you awake from the noises outside on the street and goes on with a traffic jam about noon.

Unlike than to the country life, where you are able to enjoy the silence and where it’s easier to get in touch with nature. In the opposite of the city, a country usually has got clean air and less pollution. The tribulations of city life could incite anyone to move to the country. When you live in small town the people mostly are more helpful, because they know each other. Otherwise are also there some negative aspects! For example if someone needs help, the fire brigade has got a long way until the arriving. That’s because of the wide distances between the houses. Also most of the countrymen and countrywomen have to cover a long distance to their workplace.

All in all I prefer living in a small town or in a township. In fact I would be too stressed in a town and in the country, I would be afraid of housebreaker or of the never ending boredom.

313 words

My Style

<meta equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; I am an individual and that should never change! Anyway it is highly visible that I am a fan of Metal music. Also most of my friends are so called “Metaller”. You can recognise a Metaller on the long hair, the leather wristbands and belts adorned with many spiky buckles, and very important: The band shirts. Usually are the clothes black coloured. That’s maybe why Metal often is associated by people with Satanism… Put your Horns up!

To understand the lifestyle of metal you have know, that there’s a selection of different music types. There is for example Black Metal. Black metal is generally opposed to Christianity and many black metal artists seek to reflect their surroundings in their music. You can recognise them on their black/white make up- the so called “Corpse Paint”. Also Death Metal is a subgenre of heavy metal. It typically employs deep growling vocals, fast tempos and distorted guitars. But that was not all! There’s also Doom Metal, Trash Metal, Folk Metal, Melodic Metal, Speed metal… I am mostly listening to Death metal and Gore grind, but I am not able to describe a typical ideology. If you want to know it exactly, you have to listen to these songs, because the ideology of every band could be found in their lyrics.

The only thing I can say is that Metal fans are normally very peaceful people. Sure, they like wrestling and there are also some brawls, but they have no concrete fiends like Punks and Skinheads for example. They go to their local, concerts, or have fun on festivals, rather than provocation other youth groups. Instead fighting, they reduce feelings of aggression with crowd surfing (also called “stage diving”), running into the moshpit (= the activity in which audience members aggressively push or slam into each other), or the most famous activity for Metalheads: headbanging. Headbanging. All in all you really have to watch out for steel bar shoes or elbows with buckle- wristbands around. Bruises or scars are nothing special!

Metal is influenced by rock music and has got roots in blues-rock. Critics who connect metal with expressions of aggression have to know, that only a handful of metal artists are actually satanic. In fact much metal music has got thought provoking and meaningful lyrics.

Exactly 400 words

Correction of the exam

More and more violence is shown to us in the media. Is it that what we want to see in the cinemas and on TV?

I partly agree with Michael Medved, a British author, with the four big lies of the media. In contrast to Medved, I think that violent movies don’t influence us. On the one hand it’s true that there are some copy-cat killers, but on the other hand a minimum of all people, who watch those films. I strongly believe, that this people are mentally disordered and that violent films are only the last push to put the arranged murder into action. A reason is, if we watched a dance film, we also would never walk out of the cinema and start dancing. He also claims that it’s a lie to say, that movies only shoe the reality. Likewise I’m also sure that reality isn’t like this fortunately. Another point is that harmless films like “The Lion King” are more successful than violent films. In my opinion that’s a very good argument. Finally, I also understand the media. Violent is everywhere in the news, in the newspaper and on the streets. We are confronted with violence every day and we can’t do much against it, but we haven’t watched the violent films in the cinema. So we can choose, if we want to watch a violent movie or not. Why we are getting exciting over it?

I personally believe that there are some good reasons for the violence in this world. First, we are born with it and we are getting violent, because of frustration. Second, we learn it from our parents. If a child got hit by the own father in punishment of something, I am sure that it is going to do same with the own children. Third, I think it’s the result of stupidity. Many people are only able to solve a conflict with knocking down the opposition instead talk together. That’s a sign for debility in my opinion.

There has to be done something about the violence among children and there are many things we could do. For example we have to reach agreement with the television companies that they have to broadcast violent films at a later time on TV, when the children are sleeping. There also has to be an age-limit on DVD’s and computer games. I think that these measures would be very successful, as long as they get strictly enforced. As the last point I would claim, that the parents should try to bring up their children without any violence. They should read books with them, where violence is present as something very bad. The children should watch Disney films instead of KILL BILL.

To sum up, I am convinced that not only the films influence us. I am more the opinion, that the other people, like for example superstars, have a influence and so they set an example to us.

"The Perks of Being a Wallflower" Review

The book “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” by Stephen Chbosky is telling about a 15-year old boy called Charlie, who describes his life in a series of letters.

Charlie is a wallflower without any friends at the beginning of the book. His sister has got problems with her boyfriend and his brother is a baseball talent. There are also his favourite aunt Helen who died in a car accident and his previous friend Michael who killed himself. Now his only friend is the English teacher Bill, who always gives Charlie books to read. All is changing at a baseball match, where he meets Patrick and Sam. Immediately he is falling in love with Sam, but she doesn’t rejoin. At the party’s he went with Patrick and Sam, he faces with cigarettes, drugs and alcohol for the first time in his life. All that things included his gay friend Patrick, are completely new experiences for him. Also his first girlfriend Mary Elizabeth. With her Charlie gains experiences with dating and sex. He is a good guy and helps everybody, for example his pregnant sister and Patrick in the fight against Brad. As from now he has got a higher self-esteem, what is suiting Sam. Unfortunately he buggers the friendship to Mary Elizabeth and Sam, but later all come up roses. The first stroke of fate was the death of his aunt Helen. Then, after some time, his friend Michael killed himself, what wasn’t easy for Charlie. He is a very emotional person, shy and a maverick. Anyway he lives in his own world and isn’t very open-minded in the beginning.

That all is changing when he met Sam and Patrick at a baseball match. He is loosing his heart to Sam immediately. Charlie is a guy, who mostly does the same things like the others. That’s not always the best for him. This is why he starts smoking, takes drugs and drinks alcohol! On the one hand, he was a very well- behaved boy in the past, but on the other hand he has got lots of friends now and the relationship to his sister got better, because he helped her with her abortion. All in all he is nice to everyone and always wants to do everything right, but that’s not the right way in his case. It wasn’t the right decision to have sex with Mary Elizabeth, and kissing Sam during “true or dare” anyway. And so he lost his first girlfriend after a short time. He also was kissed by Patrick although he doesn’t really want it. Charlie has got no self- confidence and he seems to be a very naive boy. But his character is changing until the end of the book…

A pro/con essay

Violence is a normal course of life. Every day, we are faced with brutal films, computer games, or violence on the streets. Many people blame the violent movies on the increasing of violence everywhere in the world since many years. But is the only solution for a non-violent life a ban on violence in movies? Or would it be successful to censor or forbid brutal films?

A powerful argument which is for a ban on violence in movies, is for example that there are also many good non-violent films which are very successful. Maybe because there are too many brutal films to buy on the open market and to watch in the cinemas, that it doesn’t shocks us anymore. Some good examples for non-violent films are for example “Finding Nemo” or “Winnie Puuh”. Moreover it’s proved that violent movies have got an extremely high influence on children less than twelve years. Little children, who are watching to many horror films, become more violent to others. Some of them want to copy their killer idols and that’s very frightening. Furthermore it could be, that people are thinking, that violence or suicide is a solution after watching such films! If they are depressed and helpless, and they are watching for example a film, where someone kills himself, they try to imitate because they believe it’s their last solution.

In contrast to these arguments, there are also arguments against such a ban.
First is so much violence not realistic anyway. The most are even so unrealistic, that no normal person would copy it. It seems almost incredible that someone is running out of the street to kill some people after watching a horror film. Sure, there are a fistful stupid people, who copy such violent scenes, but I am sure, that they had got a big mental disorder before! Secondly, the majority of people doesn’t get violent or copies cruel scenes, after watching films with violence in it. Thirdly, we don’t turn into a non violent society, just because we don’t show violence! Violence is everywhere. You can hear violent song texts, you can read it in books or you can see affrays live on the streets. Even the newspapers are full of murder and crimes.

Personally, I am against a ban! Everybody has the chance to choose it by himself, if he or she wants to watch films with cruelty in it. So all in all it is irrelevant, if violent films will prohibited or not, we still will get confronted with violence as long the human stays on the world.

snow falling on cedars

When we look at the end of the novel and at the beginning, we notice similarities and differences in the love life of Ishmael as a little boy and grown up man.

To start with, I want to discuss his childhood. He grew up with Hatsue, a Japanese girl. They were only good friends, but a closer inspection reveals, that they fell in love. Ishmael and Hatsue weren’t friends in public, because of their differences. Identical to the situation when he got older. American influences allowed Hatsue to have an affair with him, nonetheless her Japanese influences said she should forget him. They always played earlier in the wood, to a cedar. There they kissed first time. In contrast to Ishmael who was determined to keep that feeling forever and wanted to marry her, Hatsue knew that it wasn’t forever. Hatsue broke up with him and she and her family ushered to an interment camp. During her first kiss with the Japanese Kabuo, she remembered Ishmael. Identical to Ishmael, who remembered how Hatsue didn’t want him. On the contrary to Ishmael, Kabuo didn’t spend as much time with Hatsue as Ishmael did, but she married him for helping her to get over Ishmael. Alternatively to Ishmael who began to hate her, she spent her time putting Ishmael out of her life. He addressed a letter to her and told her how much he hates her, but he never mailed. When he was a grown up man, he met Hatsue in a courtroom where Kabuo was defend. They talked about injustice together and the situation was strained. She meant injustice in the trial in contrast to Ishmael, who meant the injustice that she hadn’t gave a chance to them. In the end he found proofs which would relieve Kabuo. Instead of immediately telling it to a judge, he considered if he would get back Hatsue, when Kabuo will get arrested. Nevertheless he told it to the judge and Kabuo got free. Although she didn’t come back to him he felt good, because he just wanted the best to her. In thanks she hugged him...

Dear Denise!
Yesterday I went to an art exhibition. One painting fascinated me. The title of the painting is "the problem we all live with". In the centre you can see a little black girl with a school bag and a ruler in her hand. Two white police men are walking before her. On their arms you can read the words "Deputy US Marshall." On the right side, behind the little girl there are two more police men, which are also white. On the wall in the lower right corner is a smashed tomato. In huge letters you can also read "NIGGER" in the background. I would say that black coloured people are not very liked in this town. The black girl is wearing a white dress, while the white men are wearing black and grey. Maybe the painter is infends to covery the idea, that the blacks are not save. Another ponit is that the girl has to go to school with four "bodyguards", because I think it's too dangerous for her to walk alone.
I felt sad. It's also conspicious that the police men are also a little bit brown coloured. Nobody is guilty to be black or white, poor or rich. It's the character what is important! What do you think about it? You really have to go to this exhibition too!
Yours
Sarah

For me, art is something special. The picture or sculpture has to declare something. I have to feel emotions, when I watch a painting for example. This picture or photo is not art in my eyes. The picture covers nothing and it is definite no eye catcher! In my opinion it's nothing in particular and I can't feel any emotions, while watching it. What should it express? The only good aspect is that the landscape in the background is blurred and you can concentrate on the woman in the garden. I cannot unterstand what the artist is trying to covery here? On On the one hand, if the picture were painted it would be an astonishing performance, as it lools very realistic, but on the other hand it's only a photo and much more people are able to make such a photo. This are the reasons why I say it's no art.

DEATH

What happens after death?

In my opinion, however you will die, everybody will hover above the own dead body at first. That, what the religions are telling (7 virgins, rebirth…), is also nonsense in my mind.

I’m very interested in the topic “death”, but I am living now and so I

don’t want to know the solution soon…

The Adventure in Glowville

      The Adventure in Glowville

„You are less than a servant, because you do nothing to support yourself. Sit down and think over your mistaken conduct”! That were the last words I heard from Mrs. Reed, after she banged the door and pushed a little girl in the room. It is the so called red room and he is used to punish naughty children or lazy servants. I am a mouse and I am living in my mouse hole since three years. In this time I met many punished and poor children or servants and I was really sorry for mostly of them. This room is a square bedroom with a heavy red rug and red curtains. It’s always very cold, because it rarely has fire, but I like it here. The daylight began to leave the red room and the girl sat on the chair and stared into space. I jumped on her knees and began to talk to her. She told me of her life, that she is an orphan and lives here in the house of Mrs. Reed, her bad aunt. Her name was Jane Eyre. “I can’t remember my uncle. I only know that he had taken me as a parentless baby to his house, and that before he died he had received a promise from his wife, Mrs Reed, that she would look after me as one of her own children”, she continued. Suddenly her face turned white and she shouted at me that the ghost of her uncle would be here! She got crazy and cried for Bessie, the nurse. Bessie tried to help her, but Mrs. Reed the little devil sent her away and closed the door. “This poor little girl...”, I thought and ordered her to come with me in my little wonderland called Glowville! After some magic, she crawled with me in the little mouse hole and when we were on the other end, there was Glowville-more beautiful than ever. Jane’s eyes got bigger and bigger and first she jumped around in the beautiful meadow full with exotic flowers. The sun shined and the trees presented us with delicious fruits. I presented Jane my friends the deer, the bird and the bunny. She was able to speak with animals! Only people with a pure heart can that. Here in this world there is no sadness and no bloodiness. I wanted to show Jane the most beautiful places and give her the best food to eat and the best drinks she has ever drunk. We rode on the horse to the waterfalls and we ate cakes and fruits and it tasted heavenly. Before we went back on the rainbow is whispered to her: “I hope I could amuse you of your sad everyday life! Not many children came with me to Glowville before you should know. But the Victorian’s Time is awful and I can’t understand why people are so cruel to helpless children and let them work so hard.” She smiled. After I told her the secret that I eavesdropped on Mrs. Reed and the Doctor, Mr. Brocklehurst and that I found out that Jane will be sent to a school in the next time, she made a dido and hugged me thousand times. Next we followed the rainbow and came back in the dark, unfriendly red room. Jane fell to the ground in a faint and I was sad about the fact that she wouldn’t remember me when she wakes up. But the thing that I made her happy and saw a smile on her face suited me. My job was done- I made one more poor creature of this cruel time from the 20th century happier..

REPORT about a burglary

CRUEL BURGLARY WITH THE EXCHANGE OF SHOTS

London. (KLIMO). In the night of the 27th March, two men and a little boy broke into the villa of Mr. Brownlow. They wanted to find money. All three thieves were able to flee, but one of them got shot and wounded.

The police is suspecting that the wirepuller is none other than Bill Sikes. He is the most wanted crook in London. Bill is a pickpocket leader and a brutal professional burglar. He sends dozens of children out to the streets to steal whatever they can get in their hands. The boy is assumed to have entered the house threw the window in the bathroom. Mrs. Bedwin, Mr. Brownlow's housekeeper, woke up in the night, because she heard a noise. When she was creeping out to the stairs, she saw the little boy. He opened the front door for the two other men. Mr. Brownlow woke up, because Oliver cried for help. Then two shoots fell from the gun of one of the criminals and one of them wounded the little boy. He is called Oliver. In a later Interview Mr. Brownlow told the police, that he knows the little boy which was crying for help. He was put up by Mr. Brownlow and some day he disappeared.
Then the boy got gripped by the bad men and they drew him out of the house. "Oliver looked so scared and he was bad wounded, but I was shocked and wasn't able to help this poor creature", said Mrs. Bedwin hysterically to our reporter team.
Nothing was stolen but the house is watched by some observant police men now. Mr. Brownlow and his housekeeper are anxious and everybody hopes that nothing bad happened to the probably innocent boy.
All inhabitants of London are called upon to watch out of the dangerous crew and their follower, before they are able to start a new burglary. Detectives are still looking for that gang of criminals, but everyones help is kneed!

For details or tips to this fall- please go to the next police station

Interview about the VICORIAN TIME

One day Amy and best friend Lilith had the idea to make necromancy, because they were totally bored. Suddenly something strange happened. They called up a ghost, who was a poor Girl in the year 1869 [the Victorian Time] The two friends were very interested about this Girl- or better about her spirit and Amy began to ask her some questions about her life...

Amy: Please, tell me something about your childhood! What kind of games have you played?

Ghost: Victorian children were able to play out in the street, because there were no cars! We also made up games like tag or catch or we made footballs from old rags, and bats from pieces of wood.

Amy: Great ideas! How was it in school? There were dire teachers weren't there?

Ghost: I'm sorry but I can't tell you much of school. Only a few children attended school at the beginning of Queen Victoria's reign. Most poor children like me worked.

Amy: I'm so sorry for you...What do you had to do in your job? Was it really allowed that so young children had a job?

Ghost: Oh yes. It was a point of the agenda. Most factories and mine owners did not think anything was wrong with giving nasty jobs to children. I have worked hard since I was 7 years old. We had to work long hours for little pay and the most jobs were really dangerous. My termination was repairing broken threads in cotton mills in a factory.

Amy: wow. Excuse me my stupid question, but what was dangerous?

Ghost: Some fell ill or had bad accidents. It wasn't unusual that someone lost a finger in one of the big machines. One good friend of me was a chimney sweep and when he climbed up a narrow chimney in a big house, he fell down one day and died.

Amy: What? Unbelievable! It's really irresponsible to employ little boys on a high chimney were he could fall down anytime.

Ghost: Sure, but he needed the money for food or other important stuff. After some years Queen Victoria made some new laws, which made it illegal to employ young children. 1875 it wasn't allowed to send boys up chimneys.

Amy: And what was with the children who worked for example in a mine?

Ghost: One day Inspectors (called commissioners) were sent round Britain to collect evidence from working children themselves. Reports were debated in Parliament. Throughout Queen Victorian's reign and the new laws were passed.

Amy: I think you must have a really strong psyche. Maybe I would have committed suicide when I was in your situation. What did keep you alive?

Ghost: I always had a firm reliance on god and I carried me with credit and respectability. My example was Mrs. Goodbye, who was pious, respectable and busy. Her diligence and evident constant devotion to her husband as well as to her god fascinated me.

Amy: I am sure that Mrs. Goodbye was a amazing person. This time was horrible! We learnt only positive things like Elizabethan England and Victorian England, which saw great expansions of wealth, powder and culture.

Ghost: There also were positive things too. In science and technology, the Victorians invited the modern idea of invention. In religion they experienced a great age of doubt that first called into question intuitional Christianity on such a large scale. But I will never forget the bad things. For example the wicked work and the racial divide between the poor and the rich ones.

Amy: How lived the rich children in this time?

Ghost: Rich children lived in special rooms in their houses called nurseries. These were often found at the top of large houses. In the nursery younger children ate, played and slept. They also could go to school.

Amy: Aww that's unfair! But was the Victorians time really so bad? We heard about some great things on school about feminism, unionization of workers and other great modernisations.

Ghost: Sure! There were some awesome Ideologies too. For example the politics, society changed and the Victorians created amazing innovation. There for example was Democracy. Finally everybody was able to elect and the basic idea of Marxism was not bad too. It was a age of paradox and power and my family and me were expecting about the situation first. Everybody was different, but all the religions and movements were all in their own ways characteristically Victorian.

Amy: That's interesting! Please tell us more about that!

Ghost: hmm..There were the prophetic writings of Carlyle and Ruskin, the critics of Arnold, and the empirical prose of Darwin and Huxley. Maybe you know some of these names. There also were the fantasy of George MacDonald and the realism of George Eliot and George Bernard Shaw.
You see- it was a very hard, but also creative time.

Amy: Thanks a lot! It was a arrestingly story. I think we have learnt much about the Victorian Time and I hope you are not angry with me, but we have to go to bed now. Thanks for everything!
